Theme #5 Food

Food….

Food you eat?
Someone else’s food?
Food for thought?
Chicken Soup for the soul?
Eating food?
Looking for food?
Beautiful food?
Ugly Food?
Preparing?
Growing?
Killing?
Food you love?
Food you hate?

Lots of room for interpretation this week!

Have fun,

Kathy

Theme #4 - Hidden From View Submissions

Well everyone is getting into the spirit of including their cast-off photos for us to see.  And they will be included in a separate post.

We have such a variety of interpretations this week!  From Brad and Benny's kind of dark and creepy images to Lindsay's ethereal leaves.

Enjoy!

Out of the Fog

Hidden From View.

I drove out of the inversion last Saturday like hundreds of others and got lots of nice photos of the world above the fog.  But in the end it was a photo I had taken earlier in the day at the Pickle Butte landfill that I felt captured the theme best.  Using Picasa, a little cropping, a little more shadow and the "HDR-ish" in post-processing brought it home.

The Best and the Almost

Doing this challenge has sparked my thinking, which is sort of quirky. I'm trying to upgrade both my photographic and post-processing skills. They both have gone up a little. I'm finding that if a photo does not speak to the theme by it's self, maybe I need to re-think my ideas. My DREAM shot is an example. No one got the thought until I mentioned the connection. Then everyone got it. I reminds me of the clouds we saw as kids lying on the grass. I guess that is why I don't do advertising. Well on with the show.

Theme #4 - Hidden From View

Week #4 already!

We had some great submissions last week.  The creativity is certainly flowing.

I have been given the opportunity to test a macro lens before purchase this week and I can’t wait to get “small”.

But things hidden from view are often huge!  So big, in fact, they are not seen by people looking down and going about their day.  Your inspiration could be under a leaf and you will have to get down in the dirt to capture it.  Or you might have to climb high and look down to see it.

It is about changing your perception and perspective, and keeping open to a creative process.

Theme #4 – Hidden From View, should be fun!

What Dreams May Come

The results of this theme is so fascinating!  I just love getting to know everyone through their interpretations.

Lindsay and I had multiple shots and had a hard time deciding on which would be our formal submission.

I used a little painting with light and Lindsay tapped a local glass artist for the perfect marble.

Benny went in a different direction and really delved into Photoshop to get his just right.  And of course there is a little "Benny" twist to the photo that none of us saw!

Brad knows he dreams, but doesn't remember them and his photo captures that slippery quality.

Thanks, everyone!

Photography Calendar of Events

Here's a status update on our calendars:

Boise Camera Club - We are Live-Linked to their calendar... all of the events we see on our calendar are posted by them and maintained by them.

Eagle Camera Club - I am not a member, so I went to their Facebook page and manually input some of their upcoming events.

Idaho Camera - Has Free Seminars that I get emails for.  I will keep those updated on our calendar manually as well.

Would anyone like to receive E-Mail invitations to these events?  That way we can Accept/Decline, etc.
What email address would you like your alerts sent to?

Thanks!  Lindsay

Theme #3 Dream

To be, or not to be, that is the question—
Whether 'tis Nobler in the mind to suffer
The Slings and Arrows of outrageous Fortune,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die, to sleep—
No more; and by a sleep, to say we end
The Heart-ache, and the thousand Natural shocks
That Flesh is heir to? 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep,
To sleep, perchance to Dream; Aye, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause.

Hamlet

Theme #3 - Dream.  What dreams may come, indeed.

  • Something with a dream like quality?
  • Something you have dreamed of gaining or receiving?
  • A nightmare?
  • Someone sleeping?
  • A dream come true?
  • Or a dream never realized…….

Can’t wait to see the interpretations this week.

Additional photos for Theme #2 Guilty Pleasure

Below is Benny's set-up shot for Theme #2 Guilty Pleasure.

Below is one of Lindsay's cast-offs.  It is like a treasure hunt of elements.

Here are our Theme #2 Guilty Pleasure photos

I am so pleased with each and every photo this week.  Some are obvious and others, well you kind'a need to hear the story behind it.
Hopefully we will hear from the photographers via the blog.  It would be nice to hear their stories (if they want to share) and get an idea of the creative and set-up process.
With that said, we are encouraging everyone to get a shot of their set-up, if possible.  Also, we will be looking at the cast-offs, the photos not chosen to represent the theme.  It is interesting to see the evolution of the final choice.
Below are the four Theme #2 Guilty Pleasure submissions.

First week a success! Next week Guilty Pleasure :0

Our first week down!  The four photos representing our Personal Talismans are very interesting and gives me all a little deeper insight into who each of us are.

I really appreciated Lindsay's story of the rose.

Great job everyone!

Next theme, Guilty Pleasure....  Keep it clean everyone!  LOL  I can't wait to see how we all interpret this weeks theme.

The Blog has been opened for all the participants to post to.  I hope everyone takes advantage of this opportunity to throw out their thoughts and ideas to the blogosphere!
